Privacy Policy

Your Privacy is Important to Us

We highly value your trust and confidence in us and want to assure you that your personal information is kept completely confidential by us. As a Certified Public Accounting firm, we adhere to the highest level of professional ethical responsibility and obligations to protect the confidentiality of your information. While this policy is specifically directed to individuals, we adhere to similar confidentiality standards for our business clients under strict ethical responsibilities mandated by our membership in both the American Institute and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants.

This Privacy Policy summarizes what information we collect about you, the limited times when we may share it with others, and how we protect your privacy. Our professional ethical obligations and responsibilities demand the highest regard and duty toward the confidentiality of your personal information and security of your privacy. We will protect your personal information, use it appropriately, and accomplish our engagements with you in such manner as to always maintain your trust and confidence.

Types of Personal Information we Collect

In the course of tax preparation, tax and financial planning, and tax compliance engagements, we collect various types of personal information about you from the following sources: Information that we receive from you when we meet with you in person or over the telephone, when you send us information by mail or email, on tax preparation organizers or other documents used in preparing your tax returns or in providing other services to you. Such information may include, for instance, your name, address, birth date, social security number, income and investment sources and amounts, and other tax and financial attributes about you.

Information about your transactions with others. Such information may include, for instance, investment allocations and performance, investment objectives, parties to transactions, account balances, and payment history.

Information we receive from you, or send to you, at your request if you contact us via email. We will retain the information you provide us to deliver email messages to you. We may retain the content of your email messages, your email address, and our subsequent response to you.

Parties to Whom we Disclose Information

We do not share personal information with unaffiliated third parties without your express written permission, or unless we are legally required to do so. For example, if a mortgage lender contacts our office for a copy of your return or information about it, we will ask that you provide written permission prior to our responding to that request.

The law permits disclosure in certain circumstances, such as if we must share information to protect against fraud or to protect against credit risk, in response to a court subpoena, and sharing with others who may be assisting us in compliance with professional standards or who assist us in providing tax preparation and other services to you.

Absent a specific exception, Treasury Regulation Section 301.7216 generally prohibits the disclosure or use of tax return information without your explicit, written consent. In general, a “disclosure” of tax return information involves a disclosure by the preparer of a client’s return information to a third party. A “use” of tax return information generally involves the use of the return information by the preparer potentially for the purposes of offering non-tax services to the taxpayer.

Protecting the Confidentiality and Security of Your Personal Information

We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to guard your personal information. In doing so, we restrict access to your personal information to those employees who need to know that information to provide services to you. Our employees are bound by internal confidentiality policies and are subject to disciplinary action for any policy violations. Should your status become inactive or should our relationship end, we will continue to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. Secure Client Portal

Protecting your tax, financial and other sensitive information you have trusted us with is our highest priority. This is especially true when exchanging and managing documents online. Our Client Portals allow you to safely and conveniently exchange sensitive documents with us. All communications between our firm and you are encrypted using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL), the same functionality used by banks and popular e-commerce services for secure communication.
